For several years of her childhood, she hated being a girl.

She realized that she hated being asked not to dream big…

“She believed that it was the time for her to leave home and chase after my dreams.”

I remember 15 years back in 2008, I got campus placement in a top IT firm in the country and got my first Job in Navi Mumbai.

I was happy (after all what could be better than getting a secured job in a reputed company while I was still in the third year of my engineering degree). But…I wasn’t contented from within…I wanted to do something different.

The choice was hard (on one hand I had this Job that only 30 candidates cleared from a pool campus of more than 1500 students and on the other hand I wanted to do something I wasn’t sure of) …

Episode 2: I decided to step out of my comfort zone…and did not join that company.

After a couple of contractual jobs finally in 2010, I joined my first full-time job in a University as an Assistant Professor.

(it took me 6 months of time, a lot of guts, and grit to convince my family, society, and my inner fears to finally land this permanent job where I was one of the two persons who got selected for this position out of the 25 shortlisted candidates…)

I started enjoying my work. Teaching was something I always wished to do ever since childhood…

(In fact, I earned my first Rs. 3000 from this profession when I was just 16 years of age…I tutored my friends and juniors)

I was earning pretty well in my academic career.

Built a very good rapport in the field.

Students appreciated my teaching style and they loved my stories

I was climbing the ladder of success, got promotions, name and fame in my domain

With the passing years, I started entering the key advisory bodies of the university like the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, and other similar bodies.

(And during those 10-11 years, I was fully engrossed, and contented, and I never applied for any Job)

My life was full of certainties… I was in the perfect Comfort Zone, well-protected and secured…

Everything seemed to be Perfect…

But a successful career masked an inner longing for true fulfillment.

Once again in 2020, the certainties and the feeling of being in the comfort zone made me uncomfortable.

I knew I had to move to the next phase of my life and pursue my calling.

I wanted to reach a worldwide audience. I wanted to make a difference in a bigger way.

Will Dr. Subra be able to relinquish the comforts of certainty to embrace the unknown?
