Episode 1: C2C – (Up till College, from Childhood)

My Childhood:

I must say I had an excellent childhood. It was not of the types that cuddled in comfort. At least not knowing the deep waters of struggles. I was an introvert and the girl next door synced in the protection of my parents. I did receive a decent education that was available in the region of Hospet, Bellary district.

A state-level Kho-Kho-player. Fairly good at studies and the apple of my father’s eye.

Real Journey Begins:

After finishing grade 12, I moved to Tumkur to pursue a BCA degree. My first test of the depths was living alone as a paying guest far away from home. I was unaware of the hardship and had already returned after a week, so I assumed I wouldn’t make it. My parents made an effort to get me to return to my studies.

I quickly got accustomed to living alone. Things were beginning to calm down. It was a feeling that the ocean became calm and the boat went effortlessly until my father was suddenly laid off. This was the first blow from fate that pushed me to emerge from my cocoon and put me through a test in order to find my limitations, grit, and the amount of which I was prepared to make sacrifices.

I stayed single in a room during the last year of my graduation because I couldn’t afford to pay guest fees, and there were days when I saved the money and delivered it back to my mother for her every month’s expenses that were sent for my monthly expenditure. My HOD, inspired by my dedication and hard work, eventually paid my fees in the final semester. I only paid it back once I got my first job.

Parents were struggling to hold the fort. These were strange times. We just kept rowing as a family, hoping to reach the opposite end of the shore. The nicest aspect is that adversity drew us closer together and strengthened our bonds.

My college days were not as pleasant as I imagined, but they’ve been memorable as I learned how to save money, how to believe in myself and keep trying until I succeeded, how to enjoy the little things in life, and how to stay focused on getting a job because I had to run the family and take care of the parents who had sacrificed so much for me to see some sunshine in our lives.

Did Ranjinni get the job or was there another storm in the ocean….

Look for it in the upcoming episodes…
